Why HAHU?

Kids don't need a cape to be a hero. Give them the why, and watch them rise.

Critical hunger relief and food rescue work.

Hunger Action Heroes Unite! (HAHU) shows students the real impact hunger and food waste have on people and the planet, and builds empathy for others, because even superheroes need help sometimes. Once they see that, it stops being a lesson and becomes a mission, theirs to run.

What teachers will learn

  • All four Big Idea lessons, Health, Science, ELA, SEL, plus the "Become a Hunger Action Hero" project

  • How to connect the curriculum to your standards, no extra planning time

  • How to run the full experience, comic, handbooks, audiobook, hero videos

  • A professional development certificate for your file, either bundle

What students will experience

Students dive into the comic and meet Hunger Halter and Demeter on the page and on screen, two heroes created by kids just like them. Then they take it further: hands-on lessons, a project they design, and real action in their community. Take that action, and they're eligible for the opportunity to win a trip to San Diego Comic-Conยฎ 2027, a $750 college scholarship, a $3,000 impact grant for your school, and more through the Hunger Action Heroes Unite! National Challenge.

Real kids built these characters. Real kids run these missions.
