Every teacher implementing the curriculum completes a
90-minute training first, so you're not figuring it out alone.
Your time is valuable: complete both modules, and a check for $250 will be mailed to your school, and you will be emailed a professional development certificate. Module 1 is 30 to 40 minutes of video to watch on your own time. Module 2 is a one-hour live call that walks through the curriculum and how the Hunger Action Heroes Unite! National Challenge fits in.
Live sessions run every week: Tuesdays from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. PT, or Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. PT. If neither session works, email us at [email protected], and we will find a time that does.

Inspired to Take Action
After completing the Hunger Action Heroes Unite! curriculum, Creekside Elementary School students were inspired to take meaningful action in their community and actually BECAME Hunger Action Heroes! Over a period of five months Creekside Elementary students helped provide more than 9,100 meals for people facing hunger and rescued more than 10,000 pounds of surplus food from going to waste! They did this through the following self-directed activities:

Take it further. Encourage students to take their project to the next level by taking real-world action in their community. That makes your students eligible to enter the Hunger Action Heroes Unite! National Challenge, where they have an opportunity to win a trip for two to San Diego Comic-Con® 2027, a $750 college scholarship, a $3,000 impact grant for their school, and $1,000 to a hunger relief or food rescue charity of their choice. No purchase is necessary to enter the National Challenge.

Students dive into the comic and meet Hunger Halter and Demeter on the page and on screen, two heroes created by kids just like them. Do I need special materials?
Everything for the core curriculum is in the bundle. If students take on the worm farm or a food waste audit, you'll need to gather a few extra supplies for those.
Is training required?
Yes, it's 90 minutes and gets you ready to launch.
